In the 100th year of death, the cultural department of the city of Villach, in cooperation with the neuebuehnevillach, presents an evening in honor of Franz Kafka with a staged reading and presentation of Janko Ferk's "Franz. A Play".

A year after the writer's death, five women who were close to Franz Kafka meet in the house of Kafka's bourgeois parents in the center of Prague. These are Ottla Kafka, Franz Kafka's favorite sister, Dora Diamant, his partner in the last months of his life, Felice Bauer, his fiancée whom he never married, Julie Wohryzek, his last fiancée, and Milena Jesenská, the first translator of his texts into Czech and a pen friend. They are all connected to Kafka through complex love in various ways, not least because he was "too complicated".

Janko Ferk works and lives in Klagenfurt. He is a lawyer, adjunct professor of literary studies at the Alpen-Adria University Klagenfurt, and a writer. He has published more than forty books to date. For his literary and scholarly work, he has received numerous awards and honors.
